Global partnerships

The Global Partnerships Unit of NITD seeks to improve its research programs though close collaboration with other organizations. While NITD primarily focuses on dengue, TB and malaria, we explore opportunities in other neglected diseases that have synergies with existing programs.
NITD works with external service providers where there are synergies to ensure timely and efficient support to our researchers. These service requirements vary from time to time and may include:

  • Chemical and physical characterization
  • Custom synthesis
  • Pharmacokinetic studies

Partnership interests

At Novartis, NITD collaborates with:

  • The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research
  • The Genomics Institute of the Novartis Foundation
  • The Immunology and Infectious Disease Business Franchise of Novartis Development

Eradicating tropical diseases requires extensive collaboration. NITD encourages organizations that work in the following areas to contact us:

  • Lead or early compounds active in dengue, TB and malaria, preferably with known targets
  • Related focused compound libraries, e.g., other Flaviviruses, which can be screened against dengue assays

Specific requirements (tuberculosis):

  • Anti-infective libraries against whole cells for effects on TB growth and/or persistence
  • Compounds with good activity against replicating bacilli (single digit MICs) and other promising data, for example, pharmacokinetic activity against multidrug resistance
